School is Killing Me: School Induced Anxiety/Depression
Session focuses on discussing relevant stressors seen in the field relating to African American adolescents. We will review the stressors of grief, fitting in, and family dynamics. With each stressor we will explore how it looks in present day times and explore how adolescents react both psychologically and behaviorally to these stressors. Additionally, we will address ways to identify these stressors and potential coping skills to help them adjust to or react to in a healthy manner. The goal of the session is to gain insight to into adolescent experiences within the community and provide continual support as they progress throughout their high school years.
