All youth welcome to come and make urbanzone their own.
BeadVenture is a program of the Art Council of Greater Kalamazoo. They teach kids the art and culture of beading, and the entrepreneurial skills to sell their work.
Kim is an experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with a 200 hour Yoga Certification. She is a Yoga Alliance Certified Educational Provider (YACEP). She became a yoga instructor in 2015, but has been a certified fitness instructor for over 10 years. Our kiddos love having yoga on Thursdays with Kim.
Prevention Works develops and implements innovative prevention programs and strategies that give youth and families tools to make healthy decisions. Major programs address substance abuse prevention, violence prevention, social emotional development, family life skills, parenting, and adolescent health.

UrbanZone brings Eastside and Northside youth together on the neighborhoods' shared border.
Several years ago, Valarie Cunningham started dreaming about a safe place for urban youth. As Executive Director of at Greater Faith Ministries (GFM), The Synergy Center, Cunningham saw a gap in the services offered for minority youth in the community. She wanted a place for teens to feel empowered through opportunity and academic and social-emotional support.
She also wanted a space that was conveniently located, and found one at 625 Harrison, right on the edge of both the Northside and Eastside neighborhoods. Read More...

UrbanZone is a youth driven center that empowers young people in the Northside and Eastside communities of Kalamazoo in education, health/wellness, the arts, and entrepreneurial opportunities. Our goal is to be a safe space and provide support for middle and high school students.
